Information about Grandparents As Parents

Are you or someone you know interested in meeting and being supported
by others who know what you're going through.  Do you need information or
help with your role as a kinship caregiver?

A kinship family consists of a relative(s) providing full-time care for another
family member's child(ren).  Kinship care is needed when biological parents
are unable to maintain their chil(ren) in a safe, nurturing environment.

Kinship care is a widespread tradition that crosses lines of race, culture,
religion and income... Relatives unselfishly step forward and give their
love, energy and resources to raise grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins
and even siblings.  In so doing children maintain family values, morals and
connectedness, which encourages mental and emotional stability.
